Security

Capital Bank Plaza’s security enhances tenant and property protection, particularly after normal business hours, yet does not overburden tenants and guests with delays when entering the building. The three main components of security are.

  1. Security Guard. An onsite security guard oversees building security Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm (EST/EDT), except holidays. The security guard station is in the building lobby, and the guard greets tenants and guests as they enter the building to better understand their destination points. The security guard is available to escort tenant employees to their vehicles upon request, particularly for those who are working late at night.

  2. Card Access System. A card system controls tenant access at the building entry doors and elevators after normal business hours. These cards may be used at any time to access elevators in lieu of using touch screen kiosks. Each card and fob identifies the holder so that anyone using either device is identified and tracked by the card system. Full-floor tenants can use the access card system to restrict or prohibit elevator access to their floors during normal business hours and after hours. Entry tracking can be retrieved in real time, when cards or fobs are used.

  3. Surveillance Cameras. Surveillance cameras record and strategically monitor entry doorways, the lobby, the building exterior and the interior of each elevator cab, 24/7. The security guard uses the on-screen camera monitors while at the guard station to supplement overall building security. Camera viewing is available in real time, remotely via the Internet.

24/7 Access

Normal business hours for the building are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm (EST/EDT), except holidays; however, full tenant access is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Full-time On-site Property Maintenance and Management

Building maintenance is provided by a full-time onsite maintenance supervisor. Most maintenance items are corrected immediately. Property management is full-time and onsite for immediate response to tenant needs.

Full-time Day Porter

The building has a full-time, onsite day porter. Restrooms are always clean, and accidents or emergencies are addressed quickly.

Building Comfort

Studies show that the most common tenant complaint for office buildings is that they are either too hot or cold because of poor temperature controls. Capital Bank Plaza’s HVAC system has been completely modernized, upgraded and computerized and now provides uniform temperatures and exceptional workplace comfort. At the same time, the building is more energy efficient.

Fast, Smooth, and Reliable Elevators

The elevators in Capital Bank Plaza were recently modernized and upgraded with the latest technology available in the marketplace. The computerized elevators are quick and dependable, and the ride is smooth. Because of advanced control technology, wait and travel times are very short. Regenerative drives capture unused energy, reducing elevator electricity consumption by two-thirds.

Renovated Elevator Lobbies

Each of the elevator lobbies on every floor has been refinished.

Conference Center

The building has a second-floor conference center that is available to all tenants without charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

Energy Efficient

The building occupancy remains steady at about 95%; yet, the peak summer kilowatt hours of electricity usage and peak winter therms of natural gas usage have decreased 22% and 28%, respectively, in the past two years when compared to the previous three years. The carbon footprint and tenant’s share of operating expenses have both been reduced dramatically.

Fiber Optics

Three fiber optic companies provide high-speed Internet service to tenants in the building. Having multiple providers creates redundancy, which helps minimize service stoppage for those who need to stay online continuously. Time Warner also provides service to the building.

Tenant Social Events

Tenants are treated to ice cream socials and other lobby gatherings at least once a quarter and to an annual Christmas party, all in the building lobby. Tenants can view all Fayetteville Street parades and other similar events from the second floor conference room, which provides an outstanding view.

Walking, Jogging & Cycling

Many tenant employees walk during the day for exercise, and others ride their bikes to work. The building features shower facilities in the basement to help accommodate such activities.

Power Backup Generator

The building has an emergency generator for safety needs, but it also serves as a supplement to tenant UPS systems when continuous power to certain equipment, such as a server, is needed.

Tenants have the option to connect to the generator as part of the agreement at the time of signing the lease.

Loading Dock

The building has a loading dock that tenants can use to load and unload deliveries of furniture, equipment and supplies.

Parking

The landlord manages parking spaces for most tenants under a master lease agreement with McLaurin Parking for spaces in nearby parking decks and lots. There is no additional landlord charge for this tenant service as the spaces are passed through to the tenant at-cost.

Onsite Bank

Capital Bank maintains a branch in the building lobby, which enables convenient transactions for those who choose to do their banking with Capital Bank.
